This walk enables you to drop off and do some shopping in town if you wish.
On leaving Green Close, turn right and right again to go down the Bunny Path.
On reaching Arbour Lane, cross over and walk down the steps on the left of railway bridge.
Follow the main footpath until you reach the river, then cross by the metal footbridge. If you would rather avoid steps, instead of using the metal footbridge just keep following the main path until it crosses the river.
Once across the river (by whichever route), turn left and continue walking on the right side of the river. Take care when using the pedestrian crossing at Victoria Road.
After crossing Victoria Road, keep walking on the very nice footpath by the river. There are plenty of things to look at here.
Carry on for some time, crossing the pedestrianised section of Springfield Road and continuing past the Meadows.
At the far end of the Meadows, turn right and right again to walk alongside the River Can.
Keep following the river, through Bell Meadow and Central Park. You could stop for a while in Central Park to admire the lake and fountains.
This is the most attractive stretch of the route. Carry on until you reach the footbridge to Admirals Park. You can stop here and turn round to retrace your steps back or visit the Conduit first. (The Conduit used to stand at the junction of Springfield Road and the High Street and can be seen in many old photographs.)
